<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas having an excellent high temperature oxidation resistance such that durability at a higher temperature can be enhanced even when an alkali metal component is added to a catalyst layer. <P>SOLUTION: In the catalytic converter, the catalyst layer is formed on a metal honeycomb base material processed with a stainless steel foil. A joint part of the stainless steel foils to each other comprises diffusion joint and a precursor coating film is formed on a surface of the stainless steel foil. The precursor coating film is constituted by an oxide and the oxide contains at least one kind or more of alumina of α, γ, θ, χ, δ, η and κ alumina in a classification by a crystalline structure. In the catalytic converter for cleaning the exhaust gas having the high temperature oxidation-resistance, the alkali metal component is contained in the catalyst layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
