Lighting fixture with a gas discharge lamp

The light fixture (1) has gas discharge lamps (7-9) i.e. metal halide lamps, with parallel connected burners (11-13) simultaneously supplied with equal voltage. The burners exhibit different ignitability so that one of the burners is active when other burners are not ignited. The burners are arranged in enveloping bulbs (22-24). Electrodes of the burners are connected to both poles (3, 4) of a socket e.g. plug socket. A housing (2) shields the gas discharge lamps in a gas-tight and liquid-tight manner. The lamps are arranged in a focal point of concave curved reflectors (25-27).
