Methods of treating bone disorders

The invention relates to the use of a DBC1 inhibitor for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of a bone disorder such as osteoporosis. The invention further relates to a method for identifying putative therapeutic agents that may be useful for the treatment of osteoporosis, comprising: (a) providing a candidate compound; (b) assaying for the ability of the candidate compound to inhibit (i) expression of the DBC1 gene in a cell, or (ii) the binding of the DBC1 protein to the osteocalcin promoter.
