There is provided a lifting device for lifting a curb stone. The device comprises a frame (4) for attachment to a vehicie or other platform equipped with a hydraulic system. In the device a gripping portion (1) is provided and forms part of the frame. The gripping portion encioses two telescopic arms (la, ib) with opposite gripping jaws (2a, 2b) for ciamping the ends of the curb stone. The arms are actuated by hydraulic cylinders (3a, 3b) being connected to an external hydraulic system.
