739,423. Bearings. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GES. Feb. 9, 1954 [Feb. 10, 1953], No. 3848/54. Class 12 (1). A spinning spindle mounting comprises a flexible bearing sleeve 12 wholly wound from sheet metal strip having its upper end 121 press-fitted in a housing 101 and its lower end 123 carrying a plain footstep bearing 13. Greater flexibility at the centre than at the ends of the sleeve is effected by providing larger spaces 124 between adjacent turns at the centre. The footstep bearing 13 is retained by indentations 127. The upper and lower convolutions may be secured together by welding, brazing or soldering. A damping coil 14 is arranged between the sleeve and housing. In a modification the footstep bearing is retained in the sleeve by a cross member 17 secured at its ends in holes in the sleeve. |
