The assembly (1) has an assembling and retaining unit with projecting tabs (19) that are raised from an inner face (4) of a plastic functional/decorative linear element e.g. anti-impact and/or decorative bar (2), traversing longitudinal slots (15) of a plastic rectangular flat base (9) of an insert i.e. fixation clip (7), when the insert is assembled on the element. The tabs slide longitudinally inside the slots. A blocking unit (23) prevents the withdrawal of the tabs outside of the slots, without avoiding the longitudinal sliding of the tabs inside the slots. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a functional or decorative linear element fixed to a body of a body of a road vehicle, comprising a fixation assembly (2) a method for assembling and integrating an insert at rear of a functional or decorative linear element.
