Paperboard container with bottom support

A cardboard container (box) 70 is provided with a cross beam 72 that extends across the bottom wall between opposite side walls to help support product in the container that would otherwise cause the bottom of the container to sag. The opposing side walls include recessed areas which are crushed areas 82 on the inner surfaces of the side walls and into which the opposite ends 71 of the cross beam are inserted to hold the beam in place. The cross beam may be secured to the underside of flaps 42, 43 folded upwardly from the bottom wall of the container.
