PURPOSE: A reducer of an electric power assisting steering system is provided to reduce resonant sound by absorbing vibration from a worm axis with a damper. CONSTITUTION: A reducer of an electric power assisting steering system comprises a gear housing(260), a worm axis(254), and a worm wheel(156). The gear housing is coupled to a motor(146) providing the steering assisting power. The worm axis is connected to the gear housing, and moves together with the axis of the motor and comprises a worm(152) on its outer circumference. The worm wheel is meshed with the worm to drive a steering axis(106). A hollow(315) is formed in the worm axis and a damper(310) is coupled to the hollow.
