A spa cover lifting frame includes a horizontal cross bar 3 connected to the centre hinge line of a spa cover 2 and legs 4 projecting at right angles and in the same direction from the bar 3 and pivoted at points 7 to feet 6. A part of each foot is positioned beneath the spa to hold the frame in place, and as the frame is pivoted on the pivot points to an over-centre cover-lifted-open position, the buffers 5 that are attached to the legs come to rest on the feet to support the frame and cover in the suspended open position.
