System and method for interleaving

A processor for interleaving comprises means for intra-interlace interleaving subcarriers of an interlace and means for inter-interlace interleaving more than one of the interlace. The intra-interlace interleaving subcarriers of the interlace comprises mapping symbols of a constellation symbol sequence into subcarriers, to which each interlace corresponds, in a sequential linear fashion according to an assigned slot index and the inter-interlace interleaving more than one of the interlace comprises mapping the constellation symbol within the assigned slot index into corresponding subcarriers in each interlace.
