The gear has a steering pinion (5) rotationally connected with an input shaft (6). A pressure balancing device balances pressure of air at the interior and exterior of the gear. The balancing device is realized as a tubular piece (18) made of porous fluoride polymeric resin e.g. permeon (RTM: simulated desert varnish). The tubular piece is arranged coaxial to the steering pinion and/or the input shaft, between a box part (13) and an adjacent element i.e. annular lip joint (15), or between the input shaft and a circular sealing element.
