PURPOSE: A negative active material for lithium secondary battery is provided ensure improved thermal stability and charge/discharge capacity. CONSTITUTION: A negative active material for lithium secondary battery contains: a carbonaceous material which is able to insert/separate lithium ion; and a titanium-containing oxide of chemical formula 1(Ti_(1-x)M_xO_(2-y)Z_y). In chemical formula 1, 0 <= x <0.2, 0 <= y <= 0.5; M is selected from a group consisting of Cu, Mn, Mg, Ni, Sn, Sr, Zn, Al, Si, Zr, Sb, Mo, and mixture thereof; and Z is selected from a group consisting of F, Cl, Br, I, and mixture thereof. |
