Vibration absorber, and vibration control structure using the same

A building earthquake movement damper includes multiple coaxially arranged hollow cylinders separated by viscous or visco-elastic material disposed in the respective axial gaps between the cylinders and in contact with the cylinder surfaces. As the cylinders move axially with respect to each other the viscous material is sheared to absorb the vibration energy and heat up. The pressure changes in the viscous material are controlled by a controller such as a hollow space 142 into and out of which the material can move.
