Hydraulic motor/pump with piston stroke length adjustment using concentric, eccentric cylinders offsetting the crankshaft

A hydraulic pump/motor (20) is disclosed. The pump/motor (20) is able to control the length of the piston stroke. The pump/motor (20) exchanges hydraulic fluid pressure with the rotational motion of an input/output means (5). A radial arrangement of a plurality of hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies (50) are located about a crankshaft (15). The assemblies (50) are longitudinally spaced along a crankshaft (15) along with means for varying the eccentricity (100) of the crankshaft (15) at each end. Reciprocal motion of the pistons within the respective hydraulic cylinders is caused by rotational motion of the crankshaft (15). The length of the piston stroke may be varied by adjusting the eccentricity of the crankshaft (15).
