PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for inputting character of a terminal are provided to reduce the time for inputting a character by reducing a character input pointing process. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen(210) display the combination of extensive keyset and basic keyset under the control of the controller(250). The touch screen displays the inputted characters on a display region. An input sensor(230) senses a drag and drop operation through the touch screen. The controller controls the characters to correspond to the sensed specific key or be controlled on the touch screen.
