The installation (1) has rotating units (8, 10) for rotating a mould (2). A preparation unit (4) for preparing a thermoplastic material is introduced in the mold. The preparation unit transforms the thermoplastic material in solid form into the thermoplastic material in fluid form. A displacement unit (32) relatively displaces the unit and the mold between a primary configuration in which the mold and the unit are connected such that the material in fluid form is introduced into the mold, and a secondary configuration in which the mold and the unit are not connected. An independent claim is also included for a method for rotational molding of a solid granular thermoplastic material.
