PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation plate having reverse wavelength dispersion of birefringence such as a wideband λ/4 plate, which is preferably applicable to a liquid crystal display and can be manufactured in a simple manufacturing process.

SOLUTION: The cellulose composition includes a cellulose compound and a low molecular weight compound of formula (I). The retardation plate includes the cellulose composition. The liquid crystal display includes the cellulose.
