<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a light quantity variable with maintaining constant the sectional shape of a light beam. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A light quantity adjuster 1 is provided with: silica glass 3 which is oscillatingly arranged so as to change the angle of incidence of light emitted from a light source 13 and has, as reflecting ratio properties, different reflecting ratios according to the angle of incident of the light or the incidence position; a mirror pair 5 which reflects the light reflected by the silica glass 3 and returns the light back to the silica glass 3; and a folding mirror 7 and a beam splitter 9 which emit the light reflected by the silica glass 3 the second time or later through the same optical path regardless of the oscillating angle of the silica glass 3.
