<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method of calculating a view angle of a display panel, preventing decrease of luminance measurement accuracy and calculating the accurate view angle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The view angle calculation device 6 includes: an optical measurement device 8 which measures the luminance of the measurement regions S of a plurality of different angles; a contrast ratio calculation part 10 which calculates the contrast ratio of a display surface 7 for each of the plurality of different angles based on the luminance; and a view angle calculation part 11 which calculates the view angle of the liquid crystal display panel 1 based on the contrast ratio. The view angle calculation device 6 includes a mask material 13 which is arranged adjacent to the luminance measurement region S set on the display surface 7 and has light shading property so as to cover part of the display surface 7 of the liquid crystal display panel 1.
