<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire for suppressing generation of belt edge separation while accomplishing the weight reduction of a tire, and making highly compatible the tire weight reduction and durability of a belt. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire, a first belt layer 5a of the first layer of the belt and a second belt layer 5b of the second layer are arranged in a belt width direction in parallel, and are buried in a coating rubber 8 making a bundle in which 5-7 mono-filament cords 6 having a filament diameter of 0.18-0.26 mm are aligned as a unit. Further, a gauge H<SB>E</SB>of a rubber layer between the first belt layer 5a at the second belt layer 5b end and the mono-filament cord 6 of the second belt layer 5b is 1.3-2.0 times the gauge H<SB>C</SB>at a central part of the tire. Additionally, a rubber composition which configures the rubber layer 7 arranged for ensuring the ratio includes at least one of a modified natural rubber containing polar groups in natural rubber molecules, and a synthetic isoprene rubber.
