<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the structure simplification, cost-down and planting performance improvement of a rice transplanter in which seedling trays 12 and planting units 11 for scratching out seedlings for each root from seedling mats on the seedling trays to plant the seedlings in a field surface 13 are disposed in a planting apparatus 5 connected to a travel machine frame 2, and the planting units 11 each has a planting rotator 16 rotated on a planting shaft, and planting fingers 18 attached to the planting rotator to rotate on a finger shaft 17 parallel to the planting shaft. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The planting rotator 16 in the planting unit 11 is driven and rotated with a variable-speed type electric motor 22 disposed in the planting apparatus 5, and the rotation of the planting rotator 16 with the electric motor 22 can be changed into a rotation when rotated at a uniform speed or into a rotation when rotated at irregular speed.
