PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device providing a display screen of high quality with low power consumption. SOLUTION: A charge balance control signal VCST is outputted for a charge balancing time by a control means (e.g., a driving timing generating part 45) based on an image signal vi, and when the polarity of common voltage vCOM1 and common voltage vCOM2 changes, a common electrode COM1 and a common electrode COM2 are short-circuited by a charge balancing means (e.g., a switch part 46) based on the charge balance control signal VCST to balance charge between the common electrode COM1 and the common electrode COM2. In this case, the switch part 46 switches off impression of the common voltage vCOM1 to the common voltage COM1 and switches off impression of the common voltage vCOM2 to the common voltage COM2, based on the charge balance control signal VCST while switching on a state between the common electrode COM1 and the common electrode COM2, based on the charge balance control signal VCST.
