PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for changing a voltage value of sustain pulses in field units or in units of a plurality of fields, and also to provide a plasma display device utilizing the method. SOLUTION: A driving control circuit 70, upon receiving image data of an image signal processing circuit 80, derives a display load rate of sub field units or field units. According to the display load rate, a setting request of voltage of sustain pulses is made to a power supply unit 90. In response to the request, the power supply unit 90 changes the voltage of sustain pulses. Power consumption is thereby reduced, and display efficiency is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
