<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcasting receiver accurately performing area presetting, network following or the like without storing a huge amount of data as service area information. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When the area presetting is performed, the present position of a vehicle is fetched, only transmission stations in the arrival distance of the service area SAd of each transmission station are extracted, and then, one broadcasting network to be preset is selected to extract the transmission stations belonging to the selected broadcasting network from among the extracted transmission stations (steps 101-104). Next, reception sensitivity in the radio wave of the broadcasting station of each transmission station is determined based on distances between transmission station arrangement positions of the respective extracted transmission stations and a present vehicle position, and radio wave transmission angles of the transmission stations, to read the transmission frequency of the transmission station with the largest reception sensitivity and a broadcasting station code from a broadcasting station database, and to store them in a preset memory (steps 105-107).
