<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal voltage generating circuit capable of corresponding to steep changes on both ends of γ-curve without using an external power supply. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A voltage selection part 310 selects two voltages Vb1 and Vb2 from among γ-compensation voltages: Va0, Va1, Va16, ..., Va1008, Va1022, Va1023 generated from one reference voltage on the basis of, for example, gradation data D<9:0> of 10 bits. A divided voltage generating part 320 generates divided voltages Vc1 to Vc16 each of which is produced by dividing an interval between Vb1 and Vb2 into 16 equal parts, the voltage value of Vc1 is made to be the voltage value of Va0 when Va0 is selected, the voltage value of Vc2 is made to be the voltage of Va1 when Va1 is selected, the voltage value of Vc15 is made to be the voltage value of Va1022 when Va1022 is selected and the voltage value of Vc16 is made to be the voltage of Va1023 when Va1023 is selected.
