A polymer exhibiting high catalytic activity, good hydrogen response and high three-dimensional regularity can be obtained with high yield by polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a catalyst for olefin polymerization which is composed of a solid catalyst component (A) containing magnesium, titanium, a halogen and an electron-donating compound, an organic aluminum compound (B) represented by the following general formula: R6pAlQ3-p, and an aminosilane compound (C) represented by the following general formula: (R1R2N)m(R3HN)nR4pSi(OR5)q.
