Provided is an ink for ballpoint pens which allows very light and smooth writing even under high writing pressure. An ink for ballpoint pens which comprises a coloring agent, a liquid medium, polyoxyethylene castor oil and/or polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil and derivatives of the same, and one member or a mixture of two or more members selected from among a monoalkyl ether phosphate, a polyoxyethylene monoalkyl ether phosphate, a dialkyl ether phosphate, a polyoxyethylene dialkyl ether phosphate, a trialkyl ether phosphate, a polyoxyethylene trialkyl ether phosphate and neutralization products and solutions of the same.
