<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which is easily operated by improving visibility of a control panel. <P>SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes the control panel 21 equipped with an input operation part 21a where input operation is performed, an illumination part (backlight 22) illuminating the control panel 21, and a luminance controller 23 controlling luminance of the illumination part. When the input operation part 21a is operated, the luminance controller 23 allows the illumination part to illuminate at first luminance.
