<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time and effort when a user sets timer recording in a video recorder. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A hard disk recorder (video recorder) includes a memory, an HDD, and a control microcomputer. Weekly recording setting information including on/off setting of a weekly recoding mode, a broadcast station, and a designated period; and broadcast time slot evaluation information including evaluation information of the broadcast time slot are stored in the memory. The control microcomputer determines if the weekly recording mode is set to ON (S2), and when set to ON (S3:YES), reads out the timer recording program information (S4). The control microcomputer 17 determines if there is a TV program (S5) to be timer-recorded, and when there is no program (S6:YES), performs a weekly recording process for recording the TV program broadcasted from the broadcast station set in the designated period (S7).
