PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing humin in water effectively and efficiently so as to solve such a problem that: when humin is flocculated/settled by using an inorganic flocculant, a large quantity of the inorganic flocculant is required and a large quantity of sludge is generated; when the conventional organic polymer flocculant is used, generated flocks are small and it is not easy to separate the generated small flocks from waste liquid ; and when both of the inorganic flocculant and the organic flocculant are used, it is necessary to mix them with each other beforehand and the handling becomes troublesome. SOLUTION: The method for removing humin in water effectively and efficiently includes the steps of: adding a cationic polymer having an amidine structure in one molecule thereof to humin-containing water to form a complex between the humin and the cationic polymer; and removing the formed complex.
