<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage water heater reducing heat release from a bathtub by keeping the temperature of the bathtub low when no person is present in a bathroom and of reducing frequency of reheating operation of the bathtub. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The storage water heater includes: a hot water storage tank 57 for storing hot water; a remaining hot water temperature detection means 86 for detecting the temperature of remaining hot water in the hot water storage tank 57; a heating means 55 for generating high temperature water stored inside the hot water storage tank 57; the bathtub 68; a bath heat exchanger 73 for heating the hot water within the bathtub 68 by performing heat exchange between the hot water within the hot water storage tank 57 and the hot water within the bathtub 68; a person detection means 81 for detecting presence of a person within the bathroom 80; and a control means 82. A temperature for starting the reheating operation of the hot water in the bathtub 68 by the bath heat exchanger 73 which is performed when the person detection means 81 does not detect presence of a person within the bathroom 80 is changed based on the temperature detected by the remaining hot water temperature detection means 86.
