The method involves detecting a position of a vehicle (1), actual distance of the vehicle from traffic devices (3, 4) and speed (V1-V3) of the vehicle, and aligning the position, distance and speed to a geographical database in a computer. Data defining rolling characteristics of the vehicle and data of height profile of a driving route are input to the computer. The data is conveyed from the computer to a driver at same time or same distance. The vehicle is moved to a distance (x) by rolling using the data without exceeding highest speed provided by the traffic devices. An independent claim is also included for an information system comprising a memory with data of road course of a driving route and data of traffic devices.
