<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a balance among operating sound, driving torque (fuel economy) and consumption of lubricating oil, in a vacuum pump for a vehicle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The vacuum pump for the vehicle includes an exhaust port opened to the G-point side which is a point at which a rotor and a housing are closest to each other downstream in the rotating direction of a vane on the outside of a rotor, and a reed valve provided in relation to an opening of the exhaust port to open/close the exhaust port according to the increase/decrease of pressure of exhausted compressed air. An opening of an exhaust port communicating passage is opened/closed by a control valve according to the traveling state of the vehicle to control communication/non-communication between the exhaust port communicating passage and the atmosphere.
