The element e.g. rear cover (14), has a carrier part (18) made of plastic and encased by an outer covering part (16). A cover-sided sealing surface (22) cooperates with a body-sided sealing (24). The sealing surface is attached to the outer covering part, where the outer covering part overlaps the carrier part at a region of the sealing surface. The sealing surface is formed by a strengthening part, which is connected with the outer covering part. The strengthening part is made of plastic, and the covering part is made of sheet molding compound. The carrier part is made of aluminum. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a cover, flap and a door a motor vehicle i.e. passenger car.
