PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strike a balance between the improvement in starting properties and the power saving in an image capturing apparatus. SOLUTION: An image capturing apparatus includes: a first control means 4a for performing control associated to imaging processing; a second control means 4b which monitors and processes signal from an operating means 2 including a switch and from a detection means 3 for detecting a change into a photographing attitude and in which power consumption is smaller than that of the first control means 4a; and a power supply unit 6 for supplying power to the first control means, the second control means and other constitutive sections. When the second control means 4b receives from the detection means 3 a signal indicating a change into a photographing attitude in a power saving state where power is supplied from the power supply unit 6 to the second control means 4b, power supply is performed to respective sections including the first control means 4a to shift to a power feeding state where a photographing operation is enabled.
