Disclosed is a process which can produce a natural type protein or a recombinant protein in a high production quantity. Specifically disclosed is a process for producing a polypeptide, which comprises culturing a cell which can strongly express pyruvate carboxylase and alanine aminotransferase and has DNA encoding a desired polypeptide introduced therein, thereby producing the desired polypeptide.
