<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress influence of exhaust gas in an image forming apparatus and to purify air in a room. <P>SOLUTION: Since radiating directions of cation and anion from an ion generating device 71 are changed by controlling a direction of the ion generating device 71 in accordance with a standby state and an operating state of the image forming apparatus 100, the air is purified in the standby state, and a foul odor of the exhaust gas is removed in the operating state.
