PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear which can prevent destabilization of engine operation and the deterioration of fuel economy by controlling minute opening of an air intake valve which is in a close state of a cylinder caused by flexural deformation of a drive shaft at the time the air intake valve of another cylinder is open. SOLUTION: The variable valve gear is provided with an oscillation cam construct 7 which opens the air intake valve 3 through a swing arm 6, a hydraulic lash adjuster 10 which adjusts the gap between the swing arm and a cam surface 7c of the oscillation cam construct 7 to zero, and a transferring mechanism 8 which converts the rotating force of a driving cam 5a to the swinging force of the oscillation cam construct. Each of the oscillation cam constructs installed on each cylinder is provided with a cylindrical member 7a which is inserted and fitted on the periphery of the drive shaft 5 with a prescribed relatively large gap T and two swinging cams 7b per cylinder installed on both ends in the shaft direction of the cylindrical member in an integrated manner.
