The arrangement has an active vibration damper (6), which is controlled by control signals (28), such that vibrations of the internal combustion engine (4) are reduced or canceled. The control signals are obtained corresponding to the measuring data of a sensor (8). The measuring data is supplied to the sensor, which reproduces a condition of the vibration in lag-free manner. The condition is controlled in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine. An independent claim is also included for a method for reducing vibrations of an internal combustion engine.
