PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent loosening of coiling caused by spring back deformation by a method and device for coiling a thick high-strength hot-rolled steel sheet on a mandrel tightly and stably without loosening of coiling. SOLUTION: When coiling the thick high-strength hot-rolled steel sheet from the nose part to the tail end on the mandrel into a coil shape, the hot-rolled steel sheet is coiled by reducing the thickness in the thickness direction with at least one or more wrapper rolls among a plurality of the wrapper rolls which are arranged on the outer periphery of the mandrel.
