<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a center device for improving fault resistance in a center centralized system wherein a plurality of communication apparatus and the center device are connected via a line communication network. Ž<P>SOLUTION: If e.g., a line unit 1 among a plurality of line units 1, 2, ..., N is disabled from normally communicating with a control unit 100, in a center device, information is transmitted to the control unit 100 by transferring the information through a line communication network to e.g., a line unit 2 which is enabled to normally communicate with the control unit 100 among other line units 2, 3, ..., n (n≤N) to be the alternative of the line unit 1. Furthermore, when it is determined that the control unit 100 is abnormal and free capacity of a memory 11 is not more than a predetermined threshold, the line unit 1 transfers information to be exchanged with the control unit 100 through the line communication network to e.g., the line unit 2 having free capacity more than the threshold among the other line units to be the alternative and stores the information therein until the control unit 100 is recovered.
