The interlace noise of an image of an iris included in an image of an eye captured by use of interlacing scanning can accurately be corrected in a short time. An image processing device (30) corrects a digital image (P) of an eye only on the basis of the low-intensity pixels constituting an image of a pupil included in the digital image (P). In this way, the interlace noise included in the images of the pupil and iris of the eye can accurately be corrected in a short time. A checking device (50) then performs the authentication of a target person based on the image of the iris identified based on the digital image (P) as corrected. In this way, the authentication can be accurately performed.
