An infrared-screening, visible light-transparent laminate comprising (A) a colorless, clear, transparent layer, (B) an interlayer which is transparent to visible light but opaque to infrared (IR) (b11), comprising (b1) polyvinyl acetal resin(s) forming the layer and (b2) at least one optical window which is transparent at least to IR radiation and (C) a second colorless, clear, transparent layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of the above laminate, by (i) making a light-transparent precursor for the interlayer (B) with IR-screening effect (b11) containing polyvinyl acetal resin (b1) as layer-forming material, (ii) forming at least one IR-transparent optical window (b2) in this precursor and (iii) bonding the resulting interlayer (B) with two clear, transparent layers (A) and (C) to form the laminate.
