PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray apparatus that generates the so-called long image where the elongation factor in the direction of a subject axis has been restricted. SOLUTION: The X-ray apparatus includes an X-ray source to apply X-ray on a subject, a first transfer mechanism to move the X-ray source in the horizontal direction, a turning mechanism to turn the X-ray source and change the X-ray application direction, an X-ray detector to pickup an X-ray image from the X-rays having passed through the subject, and a second transfer mechanism to move the X-ray detector. The apparatus produces an X-ray image from a plurality of X-ray sub-images photographed by controlling the X-ray application direction by moving the X-ray detector. The apparatus includes means for setting up the pickup start and end positions beforehand in the photographing range to take a plurality of X-ray images by the control of the first transfer mechanism for the horizontal movement of the X-ray source.
