The bar is connected with the switching chamber. A light cross-section of the switching chamber is changed by a leverage effect of flanges (3.1, 3.2), bars and a projection which are connected with the chamber in its size. A wall (9) of the chamber is formed in an area of its force-transmitting connection than a wall (12) in the area of the flanges, bars and projection attached to the chamber. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a switching unit. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Switching unit for a door and a gate provided with a drive. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The light cross-section of the switching chamber is changed by the leverage effect of the flanges, bars and the projection that are connected with the chamber in its size, thus allowing a light insertion of the safety strip into the switching chamber and ensuring a play-free seating of the safety strip in the chamber in a ready-for-use condition, and hence facilitating a high safety standard of the switching unit with switching cycles, saving operating time and the manufacturing cost of the switching unit bases on less exact manufacturing tolerances and achieving a sensible, rapid and optimized activation and/or switching of the switching unit with external force application on the switching unit.
