PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for a liquid discharge head, which secures an electric reliability of gold electrode wiring formed on the upper layer of a substrate. SOLUTION: The substrate for the liquid discharge head has: an energy generating element; a first electrode layer provided to be in contact with the element; an insulating layer provided to cover the first electrode layer and the element; a second electrode layer 014 electrically connected with the first electrode layer through an opening formed in the insulating layer; and a space 015 or a resin layer 016, formed between the first and second electrode layers.
