PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston capable of suppressing an increase in the oil consumption of an internal combustion engine without providing an oil return hole in the piston body for communicating an oil ring groove with a space inside the piston body. SOLUTION: On the outer peripheral face of the piston body 10, the oil ring groove 13 is provided which is mounted with an oil ring 40 consisting of upper and lower side rails 41, 42 and an expander 43 for energizing the side rails 41, 42 in the outer peripheral direction. The lower face 42a of the lower-side side rail 42 can abut on the wall face 13c on the lower side of the oil ring groove 13. On the outer peripheral face of the piston body 10, at least one oil slit 18 is formed which is communicated with the oil ring groove 13 and opened to the side of the skirt of the piston body 10. A clearance C1 is provided between the wall face 18b of the deepest portion 18a of the oil slit 18 and the inner peripheral face 42b of the side rail 42. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
