PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural steel material suitably usable for welded structures in corrosive environments caused by chlorides, such as bridges and steel towers erected in areas in which there are large flying chlorides such as areas in vicinities of seashores or over which an antifreezing agent is scattered. SOLUTION: The structural steel material having excellent weatherability has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.15% C, ≤0.7% Si, 0.2 to 1.5% Mn, <0.03% P, ≤0.02% S, 0.05 to 1.0% Cu, 0.05 to 1.0% Ni, 0.03 to 1.0% Cr, 0.01 to 0.1% Al and 0.01 to 1.0% Zr, and also comprising one or more kinds selected from V, Mo, W, Ti, Nb and Ta respectively by 0.03 to 1.0%, and the balance substantially Fe.
