PURPOSE: A reciprocation compressor is provided to reduce flow resistance created in a process which refrigerant passes by a valve assembly by reducing the change of the flow direction of the refrigerant. CONSTITUTION: A reciprocation compressor comprises a cylinder(210), a piston(220) which reciprocates through one opening of the cylinder, and a valve assembly(250) which forms a compression space by shielding the other opening of the cylinder and comprises an intake port supplying refrigerant to the compression space and an intake valve opening and closes the intake port. The intake port is formed into the longitudinal direction of the cylinder. The intake valve is installed in the intake port in order to form an angular between the closest inner surface of the cylinder and the longitudinal direction of the cylinder in an obtuse angle. An end part of the piston corresponding to the intake valve is sloped corresponding to the slope of the intake valve. The intake port is formed to the thickness direction of the piston with corresponding to a location which is near to a down side part.
