<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that video image of some red color gamuts having almost the highest lightness and saturation seems to glitter, while making full use of the advantages of a large color gamut display capable of displaying vivid red having high saturation when the large color gamut display is used to display video images based on video signals conforming to the standards of color reproduction range smaller than that of the large color gamut display. <P>SOLUTION: A video processing circuit 2 of a video display apparatus reduces and corrects a signal value of an input video signal representing a color within a predetermined saturation range from the highest saturation to an intermediate saturation in a predetermined hue range centered at a red hue and within a color range to be corrected within a predetermined lightness range from the highest lightness to an intermediate lightness in the predetermined saturation range in the color reproduction range (expanded color reproduction range wider than the color reproduction range of sRGB standards) of a liquid crystal panel 4 so that the saturation and lightness may change to the saturation and lightness of an intermediate color range previously determined between the expanded color reproduction range and the color reproduction range of the standards to which the input video signal conforms. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
